Another step down from the Laser Pistol. Slightly less powerful, TU costs for Snap and Auto are up, ammo is limited, although the latter may be because the developers believed infinite ammo was highly overpowered. While accuracy in Auto and Aimed is just barely up and Aimed shots are up, they don't outweigh the loss of speed or the now-limited ammo, despite the relatively huge clip for TFTD.

Gauss damage suffers from high resistance by everything except Gillmen and units that fall under the 'unarmoured humanoid' armour classification such as Aquatoids, civilians and unarmoured X-COM aquanauts.
