Prisoner Processing

Kidnapping is a key aspect of your Pirating career in this crazy world! Them prisoners can reveal secrets (Research), be sold back to them that likes 'em (Ransom), stripped of their goods (Robbery), put to work in our operation (Slavery), or for some special types, softened up a bit to see if we can squeeze more out of 'em (Interrogation). With these things in mind, its nice to collect all the information in one place.

Key to reading the table

Ransom

Live captives can be sold for various values out on the black market. Hefty ransoms can be quite helpful in the funding early stages of the Piratical Enterprise. When prisons space is at a premium, selling them may be the only option.

• Ransoms are accessed through the Prison or the Black Market Interface and is available from the beginning of the game

Slavery

When prisoners are enslaved (through the manufacturing interface) they are put to work making more storage space in the vaults (they actually provide negative space, so just think of them as standing around holding stuff). They will be stripped of some of their goods, and more valuable captives will provide more space as they work harder. When real estate is at a premium, slaves can be a great addition to the operation.

• Slavery is accessed through the Manufacturing Interface
• Slavery relies on "Who is Who" and "Pile of Junk" techs.

Robbery

For those prisoners that can't be enslaved, many can be robbed. They yield any of their goods, along with credit chips equal to half of their ransom. Though the overall return may be less direct cash than the ransom, the chips produced may yield far greater returns through counterfeiting operations (Mint).

• Robbery is accessed through the Manufacturing Interface
• Robbery is available from the beginning of the game.

Interrogation

Some of the higher up type of captives may require a bit of special attention to spill all of their key secrets. By putting them through some preparation, they can then be sent back to the labs for more in depth revelations. Many of the technologies revealed are key gateways to understanding our enemies and our place in the world.

• Interrogation is accessed through the Manufacturing Interface ("Break Enemy")
• After the process finishes, Research the new "Broken Enemy" in the lab.
• Enemies must be interviewed in the labs the standard way before they are available for interrogation (it thus takes two of any type to complete the Interrogation).
• Interrogation relies on Slavery and Diplomacy techs

Research

The most basic interaction with our captives is the interviews at the lab, where our Brainers work to find out what they know. Prisoners can yield many types of information, and some may be able to tells us of many things. In the table below, the "Get One Frees" column specifies how many topics a particular captive type might reveal. The "Tech Types" column gives a generic description of the types of topics they will disclose.
